Background

My name is Matt Rogers, and I am a research scientist working in the research group of Graeme Stephens under whom I also completed my M.S. and Ph.D work. I performed my undergraduate work at the University of Colorado at Boulder, with a degree in physics along with a minor in atmospheric science. Previously, I was employed at the Research Applications Program of the National Center for Atmospheric Research.

Thesis Research

My Ph.D. thesis research involved classifying the temporal and spatial characteristics of cloud regime change in the tropical West Pacific, using clustering analysis applied to MODIS observations.

My M.S. thesis research involved drizzling stratocumulus modeling.

Current Research

Other projects I'm currently working on include:

Performing sensor analysis for the Orbiting Carbon Observatory mission
Comparisons between MODIS observations and GLOBE student cloud observations (to be submitted Real Soon Now :)
Additional GLOBE training/evaluation tasks
Microwave radiance simulators (AMSR and SSM/I right now) for use with the CSU GCM and other GCM models.
