Welcome to the CSU Storm Chasers Main Page.  We are a loose group of atmospheric science graduate students and alumni from Colorado State University who enjoy chasing and observing severe storms.

LOCAL DISCUSSION
Forecast for April 20

Today: An okay day out in western NE. Low to moderate CAPEs with some good dynamics should lead to some potential supercells. Primary mode, though, will be linear with hail and wind as primary factors.

Tomorrow: Saturday has some terrific potential. The negatively-tilting shortwave ejects onto the Plains, bringing some terrific storm environmental dynamics. Prior cloudiness associated with this incoming shortwave and problematic moisture will limit the instability, though. Dryline storms will be focus along the corridor from Ogallala to Hooker. Finding the pockets of higher theta_e air will be the challenge in this chase... find those and get that storm and things will probably go very well. Good luck to those that go out on this accessible chase.

Future: Sunday and Monday are blah days with long drives (eastern Nebraska for Sunday and SW Kansas for Monday). Monday has some chance to be closer if the next wave ejects onto the Plains a bit further north. Otherwise, it looks quiet around here for another couple days.
